Lumbee River Electric Membership Corporation Improves Accounts Payable Documentation Process After Installing

DAYTON, Ohio (June 5, 2002): Lumbee River Electric Membership Corporation chose the solution from Document Imaging Solutions, Inc. (DIS), Dayton, Ohio, to solve their document storage problem and received the added benefit of improved accounts payable documentation and workflow.
Over the past 6 months, the accounting group has experienced greater than expected cost reductions and improved document processing turn-around time with the added bonus of core business process improvements from , an Electronic Document Management System (EDMS), COLD/ERM and electronic workflow solution. With such positive results, Lumbee River Electric plans to implement ™ throughout their organization. A multi-phased plan is in place to customize and install an solution for the Executive Management, Engineering and Marketing & Member Services groups.
DIS approaches each new project with a five-step plan for developing and installing . During the first phase of the process at Lumbee River Electric, DIS discovered that accounts payable documents were being processed in three different directions. DIS recommended the documents go to one person to be keyed and indexed making it easier for accounting associates to locate primary documents and all their supporting documents.
Before , Lumbee River Electric used a microfiche system to archive and store their documents. “We wanted to eliminate paper documentation and storage, and move to an electronic imaging solution,” said Tim Locklear, Manager, Information Technology, Lumbee River Electric.
After searching out and evaluating several different solutions, Tim Locklear chose the DIS solution because the open architecture workflow software is user friendly and customizable, and would interface with their existing proprietary systems. “Open architecture was the primary reason we chose DIS – it’s unique to DIS. No other provider offered an open architecture solution”, said Tim Locklear.
Once Lumbee River selected DIS, they pressed for a quick installation. “Our initial demonstration to Lumbee River was in September, they issued a purchase order the first week of November and we were installed onsite the second week of December,” said Janine King, Manager, National Accounts, DIS.
DIS completed the initial installation of , an Electronic Document Management System (EDMS), COLD/ERM and electronic workflow solution, for the Lumbee River Electric Accounting department in December, 2001.
